Methodology

How ToolBench scores AI advertising platforms

We separate public product evidence, a fixed 1-5 capability score and the priorities of different marketing teams.

Calculation

How the score is calculated

For each criterion, the product score is divided by five and multiplied by the weight assigned to the selected team priority. The eight results are added and rounded to the nearest whole number.

fit score = Σ ((product score ÷ 5) × criterion weight)

A 5/5 score receives the full available weight. A 3/5 score receives 60% of it. No undisclosed adjustment or bonus is applied.

Scoring scale

What each score means

A product score represents publicly verifiable capability strength, not brand awareness or an assumed customer outcome.

1

Absent

No current first-party evidence supports the capability.

2

Limited

The capability is adjacent, narrow or weakly supported.

3

Supported

A material capability is clearly described in the reviewed evidence.

4

Strong

Evidence supports meaningful breadth, control or workflow depth.

5

Leading

The reviewed sources show category-leading breadth or depth for this dimension.

Priority weights

Each team priority totals 100 points

Weights are declared before totals are calculated. Changing the team priority changes the weights, not the underlying product score.

Source rules

Which sources we use

We use

Current official product pages, product documentation, public pricing and explicit first-party workflow descriptions.

We exclude

Affiliate roundups, unsupported outcome claims, vague “AI-powered” language and assumed integrations.

Editorial judgment

Verified capability is a factual input. Buyer fit, team priority and relative importance remain editorial decisions.

Public absence is not proof that a vendor lacks a capability. It means the current evidence is insufficient for a higher public score, and a first-party source can correct it at any time.

03
Corrections

How a score is corrected

  1. Identify the exact capability and current score.
  2. Provide a stable first-party URL that states or demonstrates the capability.
  3. ToolBench reviews only the affected criterion.
  4. If the evidence changes the score, every total and ranking is recalculated.
  5. The dataset review date changes with the published correction.

No vendor can buy placement or choose the criterion weights. Corrections can be submitted to [email protected] with a stable first-party source URL.
